Seth Chin-Parker, PhD

Seth Chin - Parker, PhD is an associate professor of psychology at Denison University. His research examines the acquisition and organization of conceptual knowledge, and he has published his work in numerous leading psychological journals. Seth teaches a variety of courses at Denison, including a seminar exploring the ways creativity works from a cognitive standpoint. Since the beginning of GSVA’s programming in 2008, Seth has worked with the organization to develop assessment tools that gauge the effectiveness of our curricula and pedagogy. He has collected and analyzed the data from these survey instruments, and the analyses inform the evolution of the Journey Program curriculum. Seth is currently creating a new assessment tool which he will administer to non-arts teachers to help measure the effectiveness of GSA’s in-school arts-integration programs. A former high school English teacher, Seth earned his Ph.D. in cognitive psychology from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 2004.
