For the second consecutive year, GSVA welcomed YMCA summer camps to come make meaningful art with us. During three-day sessions in the month of June, nineteen third and fourth graders and eleven first and second graders experienced art, music and symbols and how all three are able communicate and express. Inspired by Wassily Kandinsky, Russian abstract expressionist claiming to have synesthesia, we all started our creative journeys by dancing lines and colors to the sound of different music. Then, it was on to the main project - drum making - but not just any drum, one symbolic of your inner animal. From fierce eagles, to cuddly bunnies, and silly bark-peeling monkeys, we all had a blast and can't wait to see you again next year!
