GSVA students, 1st-6th grade, collaborated with Paul Hamilton and other GSVA artists over the course of four full camp days to design and paint a mural for the village of Granville! Mayor Melissa Hartfield came and spoke with us about Granville's history and what it means to be a good citizen. Abe's Body Shop owner, Fred Abraham, also stopped by for a visit and talked about the medium we'll be working with, aluminum panels and industrial car paint. We practiced for this important opportunity by creating individual concept sketches and then using viewfinders to select an interesting area to enlarge into an abstract artwork. Students agreed upon a design that best represented Granville and worked collaboratively to paint the final masterpiece, which measures 10ft tall x 32ft long. It will be installed on Abe's Body Shop and unveiled August 21st at 5pm during the Farmer's Market. Thanks to all the wonderful young artists, Mayor Melissa Hartfield, Fred Abraham "Fast Freddie", and the community for making this possible! We look forward to seeing you all at the unveiling!
