“Over the next decade, the most vibrant innovations in education will take place outside traditional institutions.”
2020 Forecast -KnowledgeWorks, IFF Institute for the Future
GSVA is at the forefront of the national effort to develop flexible learning opportunities for teenage students to earn core academic credit outside of their schools. As leaders in teaching creativity to all children, GSVA believes that we have a special responsibility to set a high standard of quality for innovative education opportunities such as credit flexibility. To this end, we have pioneered real-life applications of Ohio Senate Bill 311’s mandate that schools allow students to earn core credit beyond the walls of their school. Through GSVA’s Journey Program, teens earn the fine arts credit they need to graduate from high school.
Our credit flex model is available to all school districts working with GSVA and is featured by the Ohio Department of Education as one of Ohio’s “Local Education Innovators.”
GSVA is currently offering its Teen Journey program for credit two ways.
"The collaboration between Granville Schools and GSVA is a pioneering effort to allow students to earn credit outside of GHS walls."
-Ryan Bernath, Principal, Granville High School
"GSVA's credit flexibility program responds to the Governor's emphasis on personalizing education and recent Ohio legislation requiring course options and flexible pathways for students to learn, pursue their interests and accumulate credit."
-Nancy Pistone, Ohio Department of Education
